Inflorescence an umbel, few flowered; flowers nodding; peduncle solid. Flowers large and showy, white; radially symmetric; perianth tube cylindric, short with a dilated throat; segments equal, oval or oblong; ovary inferior. Fruit a capsule, loculicidal; deeply trilobed. Seeds few, often single; large, rounded, black or blue.
