Description of the genus

Clump forming evergreen shrub up to 10 m. in height. Each erect stem arises from an underground rhizome and has a terminal cluster of palmately 5-11 lobed leaves with dull green upper blades and whitish, hairy undersides. Inflorescences brownish, hairy umbels on long branches.

Worldwide: Native to Taiwan and China now common in warm-temperate montane regions.

Zimbabwe: 1 cultivated taxon.
