Description of the genus

Large solitary palms. Fronds regularly 1-pinnate, falling off cleanly; crown shaft prominent; leaflets evenly spaced, single-ribbed, pointed. Inflorescence below leaves, much branched, branches hanging straight down when young, later spreading; 2 enclosing bracts. Flowers in threes. Fruit round, red, thinly fleshy, fibrous.

Worldwide: 6 species endemic to Queensland, Australia
