Description of the genus

Biennial herbs from thick roots. Leaves 1-3-pinnately compound; blade segments flat or curled and crisped. Inflorescence of compound umbels with small bracts. Flowers white, greenish/yellow or reddish. Fruit ovoid, slightly compressed.

Worldwide: 3 species in Europe and the Mediterranean. One species is Parsley.

Zimbabwe: 1 cultivated taxon.
