Description of the genus

Climbing shrubs. Leaves opposite, simple, entire. Inflorescences of few-flowered cymes, arranged in panicles, the cymes subtended by prominent, petaloid (in ours) involucral bracts. Corolla 2-lipped, white or pink. Stamens exserted. Fruit a drupe.

Worldwide: c. 7 species in SE Asia and W Malesia.

Zimbabwe: 1 cultivated taxon.
