Description of the genus

Perennial evergreen herbs. Leaves a basal tuft, bases sheathed; blades kidney or fan-shaped, hairy when young. Inflorescence in loose clusters of flower heads with long stalks; bracts spread along the stem. Ray flowers yellow. Fruit spindle-shaped, very hairy.

Worldwide: 2 species native to eastern Asia
