Common names:	Fameflower (English) Jewels-of-Opar (English) Pink baby's-breath (English)
Description:	Somewhat succulent herb, up to c. 90 cm tall, growing from tuberous roots. Leaves elliptic to obovate, up to 12 cm long, much smaller below the inflorescence, slightly fleshy. Flowers in lax, many-flowered branched inflorescences, bright pink, up to c. 1.2 cm in diameter. Fruit a glossy dark red capsule, 3-5 mm in diameter.

Derivation of specific name:	paniculatum: with a branched or paniculate inflorescence.
Flowering time:	Nov-May
Worldwide distribution:	Native from southern USA to South America and most Caribbean Islands.
