Synonyms:
Common names: Lavender cotton (English)
Description: Aromatic shrub, up to 75 cm. Leaves narrow, 2-3 mm wide, whitish-tomentose, pinnatifid with 4 rows of fleshy blunt lobes. Heads solitary, terminal, globular. Florets yellow.
Notes: It is grown as a garden ornamental, particularly for its foliage, and has once been found (record no. 2333) as a naturalised escape.
Derivation of specific name: chamaecyparissus: Greek: dwarf and cypress; the leaves resembling those of the cypress
