Unarmed climbers in forests with woody stems arising from rhizomes with swollen roots. Leaves alternate, sessile, parallel veined. Stipules 0. Flowers in few-flowered axillary cymes. Tepals in 2 whorls of 3, forming a short tube. Stamens in 2 whorls of 3. Ovary 3-locular. Fruit a berry. Worldwide: 1 genus and 1 species from tropical southern Africa |
