Description of the genus

Shrubs or small trees. Leaves opposite; stipules deeply 2-fid. Flowers 4-6-merous, solitary or in terminal and lateral cymes. Calyx tube turbinate; lobes ± foliaceous. Corolla hypocrateriform, white; tube slender; lobes imbricate. Ovary 2-locular. Fruit indehiscent, crowned with persistent calyx lobes.

Worldwide: 4-5 species in tropical Africa
