CHLOACHNE Stapf

Description of the genus

Perennial grass (in ours) confined to shady places in evergreen forests. Inflorescence composed of 1-sided racemes. Spikelets laterally flattened. Lower glume shorter (1/3 - 2/3) than the spikelet. Upper lemma strongly laterally flattened.

Worldwide: 20 species, all but P. oplismenoides confined to Madagascar
