Description of the genus

Terrestrial herbs with tuberous roots. Leaves basal and cauline, few. Flowers in a lax sessile spike. Sepals free. Petals very oblique, attached to column below. Lip entire or (in ours) 3-lobed, neither saccate nor spurred; basal part with a callus. Column erect, slender. Pollinia granular; caudicles short; viscidia rather large, naked.
