Description of the genus

Large terrestrial herbs. Pseudobulbs often obscure. Leaves petiolate, plicate. Inflorescence erect, racemose. Flowers large and showy. Lip 3-lobed with a long spur longer than the lip. Column short; pollinia 8.

Worldwide: c. 150 species in warm regions of the world.

Zimbabwe: 1 taxon.
