Description of the genus

Terrestrial herbs, with an underground chain of tubers. Leaves 1-3 with a tubular petiole; lamina plicate. Inflorescence lateral, a short apical raceme borne on a scape covered with scarious sheaths. Bracts large, exceeding the flowers. Sepals and petals ± similar, the petals shorter. Lip 3-lobed, without a spur. Pollinia 2.

Worldwide: 3 species occurring in Cuba, Florida, Argentina and tropical Africa
