Description of the genus

Annual or biennial herbs (in ours). Flowers yellow (in ours) in lax ebracteate racemes. Sepals erect, slightly saccate. Petals 4, unguiculate. Stamens 6. Fruit a siliqua, each valve with a prominent mid-vein and usually 2 less prominent laterals; not or scarcely beaked. Seeds in 1 series, ovoid.

Worldwide: 90 species in Eurasia, Mediterranean, N America, S Africa and the Andes
