Description of the genus

Twining or climbing herbs. Leaves pinnately 3-foliolate. Stipules small, deciduous; stipels present. Flowers small, white to blue or purplish, in clusters along an extended axis. Calyx 5-lobed, ± 2-lipped, the upper pair of lobes joined. Standard glabrous. Upper stamen joined to the others or sometimes becoming free with age. Pod linear or oblong.

Worldwide: 2 species in tropical Africa and Asia
