Description of the genus

Climbing shrubs, with branches, leaves and inflorescences armed with prickles. Leaves alternate, 3-foliolate. Inflorescences of terminal and axillary panicles. Flowers small, unisexual, 5-merous. Fruit drupaceous, 3-7-seeded.

Worldwide: 1 species in the Old World tropics

Zimbabwe: 1 taxon.
