Description of the genus

Lianes or upright or scandent shrubs. Leaves spirally arranged or opposite, with 2 (or 0) glands on the margin near the base. Inflorescences of racemes or corymbose panicles, axillary or terminal. Flowers actinomorphic. Sepals without glands. Petals pale yellow (in ours), unguiculate and ± hastate at base. Anthers oblong. Ovary densely hairy. Fruit a samara with an entire lateral wing; dorsal wing 0.

Worldwide: 3 species occurring in NE and E Africa and extending as far south as Zimbabwe and Mozambique
