Description of the genus
Trees, shrubs or subshrubs, glabrous. Bark with yellow pigment present beneath. Stipules laciniate or deeply divided into linear segments, markedly longitudinally striate, persistent on first year shoots. Leaves petiolate; midrib raised on both the upper and lower leaf surfaces; venation with characteristic ascending primary laterals linked by secondary laterals. Worldwide: 6-7 species in the Old World tropics |
