Description:
Perennial herb growing from a horizontal tuber 4-7 cm long.Leaves 20-65 cm tall with primary divisions pinnate to bipinnate, ultimate segments linear to elliptic, hairless; petiole 10-37 cm long with a basal pulvinus. Inflorescence usually solitary, appearing just before the leaf. Peduncle 3-10 cm long, elongating in fruit. Spathe 2-6 cm long, brownish-green on the outside, paler inside with a broadly elliptic limb, usually reflexed at maturity. Spadix 4-5.3 cm long, white. Infrutescence shortly cylindric with ovoid berries, yellow to orange.
Notes:
Derivation of specific name: angustus: narrow; referring to the narrow leaf divisions.
Habitat: Rocky miombo woodland, forest ansd on river banks, often on sandy soil.

Worldwide distribution: Tanzania, Malawi, Mozambique, Zimbabwe and Mpumalanga, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa.
