Description:
Slender terrestrial herb, 20-50 cm tall. Leaves c. 5, tufted, just developing at the time of flowering. Inflorescence laxly up to several-flowered. Flowers c. 3 cm in diameter. Sepals erect or sub-erect, yellowish to greenish, densely veined purple-brown. Petals spreading, yellow with purple-red veining on the inside. Lip 3-lobed with purple veining on the side lobes; mid-lobe yellow with several ridges down the middle papillae. Spur bluntly conical or cylindric, 3-5 mm long.

Note: the specimen in the photographs appears to be lighter and less heavily veined than average. It also flowered quite early in the season (August).

Habitat: On open hillsides in submontane grassland.
