Shrub or small tree. Leaves oblanceolate to elliptic, light green to bluish-green. Flowerheads up to 10 cm in diameter; bracts pale green, flushed with red; flowers white, sometimes flushed with rose-pink. See var. angolensis for comparison.

Habitat: In Brachystegia woodland and wooded grassland.
