Description:
Small perennial shrub, mostly 0.3-1 m tall, rarely taller, with numerous spreading or stiffly erect stems arising from a woody rootstock. Leaves mostly 5-11-foliolate with lowermost leaves often reduced to 1-3-foliolate; leaflets narrowly oblong to oblanceolate, 1-9 cm long, scabrid above with short stiff hairs, densely appressed hairy beneath; petiole 0-7 mm long. Inflorescences 4-15 cm long including peduncle. Calyx 4-8mm long, densely appressed hairy. Pods 24-52 mm long, strongly spirally curved, densely covered with short rough hairs.

Habitat: In Brachystegia woodland and grassland near rivers and vleis.
