Description:
Shrub or small tree with long arching branches. Leaves alternate, elliptic to ovate, up to 13 × 7 cm, thinly textured dark green, sometimes purple-tinged, hairless except for sparse hairs on the veins when young, single-veined from the base; apex with a long driptip; base rounded with several small orange glands; margin with shallow, irregular glandular teeth. Flowers unisexual on different trees small, greenish; female flowers in few-flowered axillary clusters on peduncles up to 3 cm long; male flowers in very slender few-flowered racemes. Fruit 2-lobed, 5-9 mm in diameter, drying purplish, dehiscent. Seeds covered in an orange-red aril.
