Description:
Small shrub up to c. 1.3 m tall, growing from a long taproot. Branches greyish-brown hairy, becoming more or less hairless and reddish-brown. Leaves alternate, ovate to ovate-oblong, up to 6.5 cm long, more or less densely greyish to greyish-brown hairy on both surfaces; margin irregularly serrate; petiole 5-15 mm long. Flowers in axillary 1-few-flowered shortly pedunculate clusters. Sepals linear, 6-9 mm long, reflexed, hairy; petals yellow, oblong-lanceolate, 4-5 mm long; stamens 9-10, c.6 mm long. Fruit up to 6 mm in diameter covered in numerous slender spiny bristles; bristles covered in stellate hairs and a short tuft of 6-8 terminal setae.
