Description:
Shrub or small tree. Bark pale whitish brown, rough; ends of stems often with rosette galls, like small protea buds. Leaves obovate to oblanceolate, 7-23 cm, leathery with very dense net-veining; margin closely and finely toothed; petiole stout and swollen. Flowers in branched heads on short spur-branchlets, bright yellow, 2.5-3.5 cm in diameter, short-lived. Fruit 3-5 small subspherical drupes, purplish, surrounded by the bright red, spreading calyx lobes.

Habitat: On sandy soils in open woodland and among rocks.
