Description:
Shrub or small tree. Leaves opposite, at right angles, very variably pubescent, always much lighter underneath. Flowers densely covered in hairs. Fruits in striking masses of deep red berries.
Notes:
Derivation of specific name: febrifugum: giving relief from fever.
Habitat: In various types of open woodland, scrub and wooded grassland.
Altitude range: (metres) Up to 1980 m
Flowering time:Oct - Dec
Worldwide distribution: From Senegal eastwards to South Sudan and Ethiopia, southwards to Mozambique, Zimbabwe and Angola.
Zimbabwe distribution: N,C,E,S
