Description:
Much-branched, many-stemmed deciduous shrub, up to 2.5 m. Leaves ovate-cordate to almost circular with silvery hairs on both surfaces, particularly below. Inflorescences 1-5-flowered, axillary. Flowers mauve or pink, usually darker in the centre; white flowered plants occur rarely.
Notes:
Derivation of specific name: holubii: after Dr Emil Holub (1847-1902), Czech author, physician, naturalist and explorer in Southern Africa.
Habitat: In rocky soil in woodland, grassland and along roadsides.
Altitude range: (metres) 900 - 1500 m
Flowering time:
Worldwide distribution: Malawi, Mozambique, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Botswana, Namibia and Mpumalanga South Africa.
