Status: Probably introduced
Perennial herb or herbaceous small shrub, often unarmed but occasionally with a few prickles. Leaves elliptic, entire or slightly wavy on the margins, dark green above, paler and tomentose below. Flowers pale to deep blue, mauve or purple. Fruit mottled or striped green and white, yellow when ripe.
Notes: Although now included in Solanum incanum this form is so distinct, common and widespread, that it was described as a separate species in many books. It is actually the most common form found in most of Zimbabwe.
Derivation of specific name: panduriforme: fiddle-shaped, referring to the leaves.
Habitat: Along roadsides and in disturbed areas.
