Description:
Deciduous shrub or small tree. Leaves alternate oblong-elliptic to broadly oblanceolate, up to 15 cm long, thinly white woolly above only when young, more densely greyish or pale-brownish woolly beneath with veins prominent; margin entire or dentate towards the apex; petiole 2-7 mm long. Inflorescences in branched terminal heads of multiple capitula or in axillary spike-like inflorescences. Florets dull-yellow without rays. Achenes c. 4 mm long, c. 8-ribbed, pubescent, crowned with 4-5 mm long barbed setae.

Derivation of specific name: discolor: not of the same colour
Habitat: In mixed deciduous woodland, often on rocky outcrops and sometimes on termite mounds.
