Description:
Annual herb to 65 cm. Stems erect, glabrous, striate. Leaves narrowly lanceolate to elliptic, grey-green; amplexicaul at the base; margin entire or coarsely toothed. Capitula few in a lax corymb. Phyllaries green with purple tips, glabrous. Corollas lilac, mauve or white. Achenes cylindric, dark brown, hairy on the ribs. Pappus white with bristles 4.5-6 mm long.

Habitat: On sandy or stony soil in Acacia bush, disturbed ground (e.g. roadsides), grassland or seasonally waterlogged grassland.
