Description of the family

Dioecious, resinous tree to 40 m. Petiole long; leaves alternate or in clusters of 3-5, fan-shaped, usually 2-lobed, with dichotomous, parallel veining. Inflorescences borne on spur shoots. Male flowers catkin-like; anthers borne in pairs on an axis. Female flowers of 2 ovules, borne on a long peduncle. Fruit drupe-like, with a fleshy outer part; inner bony.

Worldwide: 1 genus in E China

Zimbabwe: 1 cultivated genus and 1 cultivated taxon.
