Shrub; stems 4-angled. Leaves large, simple, opposite; margins entire to crenulate; base acute; apex rounded. Inflorescence terminal, comprising loosely clustered spikes; peduncles brown; solitary bracts large and colourful. Calyx of 5 equal segments; corolla cylindric, white, abruptly 2-lipped. Stamens 2. Fruit an oblong, glabrous capsule. Seeds 4, flattened. Worldwide: 1 species in Venezuela Zimbabwe: 1 cultivated taxon. |
