Description of the genus

Shrubs or small trees, evergreen. Leaves simple palmately lobed; margins toothed. Inflorescence terminal; panicles of umbels; bracts large, membranous; pedicles not articulate below ovary. Flowers with calyx rim obsolete or 5-toothed; petals 5, valvate. Fruit drupes, sub-globose. Seeds laterally compressed.

Worldwide: 2-3 species in Japan and Taiwan.

Zimbabwe: 1 cultivated taxon.
