Description of the genus

Small erect, evergreen shrub. Leaves 2-3-pinnate; ultimate leaflets 1-5, entire. Flowers white, borne in terminal panicles. Sepals and petals numerous, the leathery sepals gradually merging into the larger and whiter petals. Stamens 6. Ovules 2. Fruit a red berry.
