Description of the genus

Annual or perennial herbs or subshrubs; vegetative parts generally densely hairy. Leaves simple, entire or dentate. Inflorescence dense, racemose or paniculate. Sepals erect, spreading. Petals entire or emarginate, clawed, yellow. Fruit a circular, ovate or obovate silicula. Seeds 2-16, flattened, mostly narrowly winged.

Worldwide: 7 species, from Central Europe to Turkey.

Zimbabwe: 1 cultivated taxon.
