Palm, solitary stem small to medium size, sometimes slightly leaning or curved. Leaves 7-22 pinnate, gracefully spreading sheath; petiole and rhachis often covered with elongated grey or brown hairs or scales; leaflets regularly arranged and spread in the same plane, abaxially grey. Inflorescence borne among the leaves, branched to 1 order; rachillae numerous, flowers arranged in triads. Fruit 1-seeded; epicarp and mesocarp fleshy, splitting regularly into 3 sections at maturity. Worldwide: 2 species in Brazil. Zimbabwe: 1 cultivated taxon. |
