Description of the genus

Tall trees. Leaves alternate, with entire margins, large. Flowers large, yellow, solitary or fascicled on short axillary peduncles. Sepals 3, ovate or triangular, valvate. Petals 6, 2-seriate, subequal or inner smaller. Fruit of indehiscent carpels. Seeds large.

Worldwide: Two species occurring in tropical Asia and northern Australia

Zimbabwe: 1 cultivated taxon.
