Trees wholly or partly deciduous. Leaves compound, spiral, imparipinnate, petioles broad at the base; leaflets opposite or sub-opposite, entire or crenulate, with a distinct slightly thickened intramarginal vein or absent. Inflorescence paniculate, terminal, appearing before the leaves or accompanied by very young ones. Flowers small; calyx 4-5-lobed; petals 4-5 valvate, glabrous. Fruit a drupe with 1-5 cells; endocarp woody. Worldwide: About 25 species native to Southeast Asia. Zimbabwe: 2 cultivated taxa. |
