Description of the genus

Deciduous shrubs, twigs thin, not pithy. Leaves alternate, simple, petiolate. Inflorescence diffuse; with long pedicels and long spreading hairs; flowers in large terminal panicles, actinomorphic, small; sepals 5, fused at base; petals 5. Fruit a small one-seeded drupe.

Worldwide: 2 species native to the warm, temperate, northern hemisphere.

Zimbabwe: 1 cultivated taxon.
