Common names:	Dragon fruit (English) White-fleshed pitahaya (English)
Description:	Epiphytic, lithophytic or terrestrial, much-branched, sprawling and climbing to 5 m or more. Stems 3-angled with very short 1-4 mm spines; margins undulate. Flowers 25-30 cm scented, nocturnal; petals white with spreading green outer bracts. Fruit 6-12 cm, ellipsoid to oblong, red with scale-like appendages.

Derivation of specific name:	undatus: wavy, undulating, referring to the stem angles.

Worldwide distribution:	Origin uncertain, probably Mexico but it may be of hybrid origin. Widely cultivated in the tropics for its edible fruit and as an ornamental.
