Common names:	Kahili ginger lily (English)
Description:	Stems to 2 m. Inflorescence 25-35 cm, many-flowered. Flowers yellow. Stamens 5-7 cm, bright red, long-exserted; anthers orange. Capsule red inside.
Notes:	As far as is known, this is the only species of Hedychium which is naturalised in Zimbabwe. The seeds are spread by birds (BW, pers. comm.). Henderson (2001), p. 48 gives a drawing and other useful information about this species and three others which are naturalised in South Africa.
Derivation of specific name:	gardnerianum: for a Mr Edward Gardner, the East India Company's Resident at Katmandu.
