| Description: | Small evergreen tree, cultivated for its edible nuts and sometimes naturalised. Leaves petiolate, whorled, oblanceolate to narrowly oblong; margin wavy, entire or with spaced sharp teeth, particularly on young plants. Flowers in dense racemes, white. Fruit subspherical, 25-35 mm long, with a pointed tip. |
| Notes: | Note: Two species are cultivated, M. integrifolia and M. tetraphylla L.A.S. Johnson. The species readily hybridise, even in nature, and nowadays many specimens are hybrids. M. tetraphylla has become rare in the wild, due to this. |
