Description: | Tufted perennial with short rhizomes. Culms up to 1 m, robust; nodes exposed and bearded. Inflorescence digitate with 1-15 sessile or subsessile, white-villous racemes; culm below the inflorescence glabrous. Sessile spikelets: lower glume with tubercle-based cilia along the margins and forming a transverse subapical fringe; lower floret barren; upper floret stipitiform, awn c. 30 mm long. |
