Description: | Tree, to 20 m. Leaves stiff, becoming glaucous beneath, with small marginal reddish spines. Leaves and old leaf scars spiral around the trunk and branches like a screw. Fruit of 100-200 drupes, each 4-8-locular; the separate upper half green, the basal half with a purple or red band. |
