Description:

Shrub or small tree. Leaves ovate, to 15 cm long, densely pubescent beneath. Stipules large, triangular, usually reflexed. Flowers in dense terminal and axillary panicles. Corolla pink, with yellow hairs at throat. |
Notes:

Some difficulty was encountered in identifying this specimen to species and in particular in separating it from R. cordata. I have followed the approach in Hortus 3, which states that R. amoena has 'leaves which are densely pubescent beneath' while R. cordata has leaves which are 'glabrous to sparsely strigose beneath'. |
