Description: Small tree or shrub, attaining 2 m, but usually shorter. Bark smooth; branchlets bearing dense white lenticels. Leaves: petiole 1 mm long; lamina 2.5-5 × 1-1.5 cm, narrowly elliptic; margin serrate. Flowers solitary, born on spur branchlets, yellow, showy, sweetly scented. Sepals persistent, enlarging in fruit and turning red. Fruit of 1-6 almost spherical, black drupelets.
