Description: Tree. Leaves largepetiole rufous-tomentose; rhachis almost 20 cm. long, tomentose like the petiole, conspicuously winged. Leaflets in 3-6 pairs. Inflorescence of pedunculate spikes. Flowers white. Pods with strongly thickened margins. Seeds embedded in the sweet, cottony, white aril, which gives it the name ice-cream bean, since their texture and sweetness are reminiscent of ice cream.
