Description of the genus

Shrub. Branches glabrous or ± cobwebby-lanate. Leaves alternate. Capitula in few-flowered corymbose inflorescences, rarely solitary, heterogamous and radiate. Ray florets female, fertile; disk florets pseudo-bisexual, ovaries abortive. Rays yellow. Fruit a naked drupe, black or purplish-black when ripe, pulp sweet and edible.

Worldwide: 2 species in eastern and southern Africa

Zimbabwe: 1 taxon.
