Description of the genus

Perennial climber with white latex; roots branched with numerous tubers; stems twining, nodes swollen. Interpetiolar stipules fleshy. Leaves simple, opposite, petiolate with undulate margins. Inflorescences many-flowered, greenish, semi-succulent. Follicles paired, divergent, narrowly ovoid. Seeds ovate, flattened, with a tuft of hairs.

Zimbabwe: 1 taxon.
